COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
APPLICATOR, SELF-PRESSURIZED CAN, BRUSH-TYPE, FOR USE WITH
ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL SOLVENT
(AEROSOL BRUSH APPLICATOR FOR ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
1.0 Scope. This description covers an assembly that dispenses a pressurized solvent (isopropyl alcohol) for used in cleaning electrical components on aircraft.
2.0 Classification. The assembly shall be a hand-held assembly with an activating trigger, a nozzle embedded in a bristle brush and a 3 foot long feed tube that connects to a 16-ounce, self pressurized can of isopropyl alcohol.
3.0 Salient characteristics.
3.1 Hand held assembly.
3.1.1 Spray head. The assembly shall be an ESD safe polypropylene/aluminum nozzle spray head mounted on an unpainted aluminum cylinder with a 1.25 inch diameter connected to a 3 foot long feed tube. The assembly length shall be 6 inches and have an easily operated finger trigger which releases solvent flow from the pressurized can through the feed tube.
3.1.2 Feed tube. The feed tube shall be a nylon tube encased in braided insulation covered with an ESD safe stainless steel wire overjacket. The end of the feed tube shall have a clip which locks the tube onto the self-pressurized can nozzle. The length of the feed tube shall be 3 feet.
3.1.3 Steel ferrule. The brush tips shall be held tightly in place using a plated steel ferrule with a length of 1.25 inch and a diameter of 0.45 inch.
3.1.4 Attachment instructions. The unpainted cylinder portion of the assembly shall be printed with pictorial and written instructions for correct attachment of the assembly to the self-pressurized can of solvent.
