COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLEANING COMPOUND, SOLVENT
(NON-CONDUCTIVE, NON-FILM FORMING, DEGREASING)
This description covers one type of solvent cleaning compound, intended for use on all types of electrical and mechanical equipment, including running electric motors.
Salient characteristics.
The material shall have a flash point in excess 200oF, (94oC).
The MAC (maximum allowable concentration) shall be not less than 350 ppm.
The material shall not attack or corrode surfaces of aluminum, brass, steel, or soldier.
The material shall be suitable for ultra-sonic cleaning, and surface degreasing and cleaning. It shall also be suitable for cleaning a running electric motor.
Packaging, packing, and marking. Packaging, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
Note.
The contracting officer should specify the size of the container desired.
The maximum allowable concentration, MAC, is synonomous with the threaded limit value, TLV, and with the personal exposure limit, PEL.
